It is indeed easy to wander, step by step, into a Hell of our own making. So, imagine then how simple purposeful steps can also swiftly bring us closer to something so much more uplifting, both for ourselves and society. Did ya read the book? It's worth it- incredibly sobering.

Nice analysis of our sorry state! You mentioned North Korea. Here are some excerpts from a short poem I wrote years ago called "North Korean Lullaby": "In the nightmare of the dark, All the dogs of menace bark... A cult which masquerades as State, Based on bogus love--and hate; Delusional in the extreme, It's feverish--a demon's dream. Orwellian unto its core, Eclipsing Nineteen Eighty-Four, This sad, pathetic, hellish nation: Nothing but incarceration. I'd rather be imprisoned here Than be a free citizen there." Cheers, lol!

What I find funny about major psychedelic users, is that they'll have the audacity to criticize all religions, meanwhile they've turned psychedelics into a religion. I say this as someone who used to be pretty into psychedelics too. I never got into the hippy dippy aspect of it all, but I did do a lot of psychedelics and used to believe they were a tool for us. So while there was definitely a difference between myself and the average hippy, especially looks wise, it was still a rather fine line in how I viewed psychedelics. Whether or not you believe in Christianity is up to you, but I realized that messing with my mind with psychedelics was a huge waste of time, and i think if we're really being honest with ourselves, no matter how profound of an experience you have while tripping, when you return to normal, you return to normal. you're really no different. the trips are more like insane dreams that you had, and i don't think there are any lasting positive effects. sometimes you're convinced while high that a certain trip is gonna change your life forever, and you might try to hold on to that feeling for a little bit after the trip has ended, but ultimately you return to the person you really are. i won't lie... i still think psychedelics are fun, and i still feel temptation to do them from time to time, but i know the truth now, and i've accepted the truth of psychedelics as well, and that is that, the experiences are fleeting, and you are not changed forever.

Can the rest of us find it that funny youve only been exposed to the ideas that your mind conjured upon when the reality is a lot broader and more complicated than we could ever comprehend. To say psychedelics can’t have an everlasting impact on our perception of the world and how we go about our lives would be objectively wrong. @SuperSaiyanScandinavian I wouldn't go so far as too say that psychedelics can't have a lasting impact on peoples lives, especially considering the clinical trials being done on soldiers to help them process and overcome their PTSD. However, I do not think that looking to any substance as "the answer" to your internal or external problems is wise. I do think they can be very useful tools though. I appreciate your comment, but again I would caution against claiming that your own experience with these things is true for everyone. The artist Alex Grey was going to commit suicide, and then he tried LSD. Now his paintings are viewed by millions, and are hard to describe as a fleeting waste of time.

A very original way to protect your ignorance. To build a temple around it. With fancy towers, gardens, carved pillars decorated with mandalas and esoteric symbols. A charming prison into which the light of reason should never penetrate, lest it dispel the darkness and expose the gaping emptiness that is hidden there. Exactly, reparations historically are immediate responses to an issue. I can’t really think of an example of reparations coming so far after the fact. Because then this opens a whole can of worms, do countries like Northern Ireland; still beholden to the UK, do they deserve reparations for the undue suffering and manufactured crises the British put them under in the early 1900s? And his take that honestly we simplify a lot of these issues entirely way too much is correct, both conservatives are too quick to hand wave the effect of generational oppression, but the left is far too quick to hand wave away the effects of as Thomas Sowell puts it “Black Hillbilly” culture. Simply put the answer is probably somewhere in the middle and we have to genuinely ask ourselves, why was wealth in Black communities greater during segregation than it is today? So clearly racism isn’t the only driving factor. Hell it’s probably not even a major factor in the issue, and I want to get past the race issue because black communities face the same issues as my local community (rural Appalachia) and if we can find solutions to help them, then by extension since we suffer from largely the same issues, only difference is we’re white; we can also have a brighter future. TL:DR, I don’t think reparations are necessary because I believe the root cause of it isn’t racism, but rather Hillbilly culture that is completely self destructive.

Whaddayoumeme simply lies about slavery in the Bible. It was, in fact, very similar to the slavery with which we are familiar from the Antebellum South. Under Mosaic law, foreign slaves were chattel slaves. They could be bought, sold, separated from their families, beaten, raped, killed, kept for life, and passed down as inherited property. Every specific reference to foreign slaves in the Bible is to deny them rights and protections afforded to Hebrew slaves. The treatment of foreign slaves was every bit as bad, or worse, than slavery in the Antebellum south.
